So far so good
Reviewer: Strategic Tactical Group | Utah
I currently own 4 pairs of 5.11 footwear and have owned 7 in the past. Its all I use while instructing at Strategic Tactical Group in Utah. So far the Tactical Trainers are VERY comfortable and as I have only had them for a few weeks, they are holding up well. The customer service with 5.11 is outstanding. I use the Tactical Trainers on the range as well as day to day footwear. We recomend 5.11 footwear to all our students, friends and instructors.

I wear these shoes all the time, I even get away with them at work which is business casual. I have a lot of foot problems (hammer toes, high arch, ankle problems) so it's tough to please me but these shoes do the job. I wear them to the range, playing with my Son at the park, walking the dogs, working out, etc. I have custom orthotic insoles and they fit fine in the shoes after removing the insoles. My feet also sweat A LOT so breath ability was important to me.
Cons first: 12W was slightly narrow, but shoe trees fixed that after a few days probably best to keep it this size though and let you stretch it your self.
-The suede like material does fray and scuff quickly.
Pros: Extremely lightweight, I think the shoe with it's original insert weighs barely more than what my custom insoles weigh (which means for me the shoe weight doubled, but oh well!).
-Perfect height to add ankle support
-Not bad looking, but I do wish it was all black
-Breathable, keeps my feet cool even in summer.

I have owned almost 10 pairs of 5.11 tactical shoes or boots in my career. I have always liked the 5.11 brand, however, this shoe did not fit the muster. I like the look of the shoe, however, the upper heel part of the shoe drives itself or the back edge of the shoe if you will, drives itself into the back of my ankle to the point it pinches and chaffes and has caused blistering. I love the looks and overall feel of the shoe in terms of wearability, but this issue with the rear upper lip has caused me to not wear the shoe anymore and it collects dust. I ended up going with another brand that did not have this issue.
Comfortable right out of the box

What a better way to test these than to take them for a run right out of the box. I recall seeing a photo several years ago of a distance runner wearing 5.11 boots on a long run. (I think it was a dare, if I'm recalling it correctly) Well, I did a shorter version of that run. I took my new pair of Trainers 2.0 right out of the box and went for a 2 mile jog. socks too!) I am very impressed. They were more comfortable than some of my well broken-in running shoes. The sole, toe and heel are of duty-boot quality but in a light weight hiker. I expect these to last quite a long time. Well done 5.11.
I love these shoes

Incredibly comfortable and a perfect fit. They appear to be very well made and should hold up well. I'm wearing these for everyday wear and to the range. Even though there are a lot of shoes out there that look like this, when you look closely at the features and design the details are what make these superior for tactical use. Perfect for blending in but still having the performance qualities you need for a variety of scenarios.

About 5.11 Tactical
It all began with the pants. Taking its name after its flagship product, 5.11 manufactures some of the most well-known tactical pants and clothing in the world. The original 5.11 Pant was initially developed as a rock climbing trouser, but police officers became fond of the spacious, functional pants. For the last 30 years, personnel from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies have worn these pants. Founded on the principles of durability and quality, 5.11 expanded its scope and soon began manufacturing other articles of tactical clothing, footwear, eyewear, duty knives, tactical gear, holsters and much more.
