I spent 9 years in the army (2007-2016). Ive used the nike combat boots, standard issue, and a few other brands. Been to Air Assault School and did the Germany Proficiency Badge each one had about a 12 mile ruck run. This is the only boot that I've had that didn't give heel blisters or bottom blisters for me. Also never had to break it in. Good to go out of the box. I highly recommend these.

I was in the market for some hiking boots and wanted to spend the money on something durable and functional. E.G. I don't like having to buy pairs of new shoes every year. Then I thought why not boots approved for use in combat? After doing some research these seemed to fit the bill, well made, not cheap but not $300+. So I decided to pull the trigger. The price on tactical gear.com was less than any other retailer, the boots shipped quickly and arrived on time. They're great boots. Very solidly made. They're warm but not too hot. They don't feel super heavy to me. I have a 10-year old pair of magnum high techs that these are replacing and these are lighter. I've only walked about 5 miles in them but so far they're a great mix of comfort and toughness. They still feel a little stiff but I'm sure that'll work itself out. So far very pleased and I would recommend these boots.

If you're looking for a good comfortable boot that's light weight but can still handle rough terrain and still look good in garrison, this is the boot for you. They take a little while to break in and are a little tough to clean but I've been wearing my T8s for about 3 years now and I absolutely love em. Good in the cold and even better in the heat. I've even done a some runs and rucks in them with no issues. The only reason why I plan on buying a 2nd pair so soon is to have the coyote pair to match the OCP uniform.

I came from wearing McRae's 12W, Style 4189 Desert Boots as a comparison to the Garmont. I needed new boots, and I was wanting to try something different, something a little lighter in weight. Using a digital postal scale, these Garmont' came in at 3lbs 4 oz pair and are lighter in weight by 10 ounces per pair over the McRae's which came in at 3lbs 14oz pair. The Garmont' out of the box are more comfortable for "break in" than the McRae' as well. I purchased the 12W for the Garmont as recommended. I wish I had bumped it up a 1/2 size though for a little more toe room though to match the McRae' 12W. The width for my feet ( big and flat ) is right on however. It is winter time here in Northern Arizona and with a medium 100% wool sock from REI these boots are comfortable with temps in the mid 20's at night. The one gripe I have and it is minor, and can be fixed easily, is the type of boot lace that comes with the Garmont. One of the reasons I enjoy my McRae desert boots is that they are so quick to lace and unlace! I only have 10 miles on these Garmonts, but so far they are worth the purchase price to try something different. I am liking these so much I am considering buying another pair but in a 12.5 W as a winter boot that can be worn with heavier wool socks. My McRae's were good for over 900 miles, let' see how long these Garmont's hold up.

I've had three pairs of these boots since 2008. They are great. I am holding out on wearing the OCP uniform until I can buy a pair of the Coyote T8's. Any idea on the release date? Would be a great Christmas present for me.

    • Response from TacticalGear.com

Glad these boots worked out for you! The Coyote Brown Garmont T8s are scheduled to be released in early 2016 and will be authorized for wear with the OCP ACU. Keep an eye out for them!

I got a pair of these boots back in July/August and they felt pretty darn good. They had been workin up until recently when I noticed my right boot was bothering me right about at the ball of my foot. I took the insole out of the boot to inspect what was botherin me and I noticed that the inside of the boot had cracked in half! It is completely separated. I have no idea how this happened, but I can't wear them anymore because it hurts to walk. It has only been 3 or 4 months. That's not long enough for somethin crazy like that to happen. Guess ill go back to my Mcrae Panama boots.
