Maxpedition Jumbo E.D.C. Versipack

caught a lot of flack from the old lady when i received my new "man purse" as she likes to call it... I guess preparation is funny to her. Im able to fit everything you would want in an every day carry "survival" bag which is exactly why i purchased it. comfortable to carry, has good weight distribution, belt strap helps with heavier loads, i have not really used it yet. love the rugged look of the bag, the many loop holes for d clips/carabiners, velcro for things that...velcro... fits my trusty old nalgene bottle perfectly, somewhat annoying to insert, but it is secure and easy to access... the one negative i can see as being a problem that someone else pointed out is that the pouch flap does not fully cover the inner pockets making the contents susceptible to moisture damage during a heavy rain. anything that would potentially be harmed by water I am keeping in ziplock bags which is advisable anyhow seeing as the bag isnt waterproof and wouldnt withstand full submersion. a very small negative which I though worth pointing out.

This bag is excellent for emergency response. There is plenty of room for my HT as well as 1st aid kit and other essentials. Currently I carry it the car with me for just in case. The bag has a wrap around strap for your waist which is great for motorcycling as the bag would not flop around in the wind. Highly recomended.

This bag is a must for the person on the go. Great quality and rugged construction will take more than a beat. I rarely go out without it. Additional adjustable velcro holster and magazines holder are a must if you carry a weapon and is more comfortable than carrying a gun inside your waistband. This model in particular is the best if you have a large hand like mine. Many compartments to accomodate and organize all your personal belongings. Price was the cheapest of all sites I searched and free shipping on top. Great buy. I will recommend this and any other Maxpedition versipacks. I own a khaki and a black one.

There are 2 things (okay, 3) that I think would make this thing the perfect bag. First, I wish it had the storm collar feature that's present in most Versipack models, since (as others here have said) the sides tend to bulge out from under the main flap and if you got caught in the rain, the stuff in the main section would get soaked pretty fast. Second, I wish the large front pocket (under the main flap) had 2 zipper-pulls, not sure why it doesn't when almost every other Maxpedition product has 2 zippers everywhere. The last thing I wish they would do is release this in an S-Type variation. I'm a Southpaw and wear it on the left and it works surprisingly well actually but I would like to at least have the option for the "proper" left side carry. As far as things I prefer over the normal version, the front pocket (the one I wish had 2 zipper pulls) is FAR superior as far as organization options with the slotted elastic for pens, flashlights, knife, or whatever. On the regular version you just have to slop it all in there or rely on clips to keep things in place. The handle across the top pocket is also alot more useful than on the standard version. The slightly thinner fabric is a break-even to me, It's still PLENTY sturdy and the lighter weight is nice but the standard version is a little more stout and can pretty much stand up on it's own which can be handy. Love the plastic ring on the strap (compared to the black clip on the regular version) for keys or whatever, it works much better if you use a caribiner on your keys. (doesn't everybody?) I love/recommend the khaki color by the way, be advised that in person it's alot darker than pretty much every picture on the web will portray. It's almost hard to discern it from OD green in other manufacturer's items.

The Versipack is a versatile small shoulder bag with one major flaw and a minor flaw. The bag is well made and wears well but the flap that covers the main storage compartment is not full coverage. Meaning, the left and right sides of the main compartment are open and exposed to the elements. The minor flaw is the shoulder strap adjustment range is geared towards taller individuals, particular in torso length. Shorter than average users may find the bag rides too low on ther person. If the above issues do not concern you, then the Versipack EDC is a great small shoulder bag - be mindful of the dimensions and the carrying capacity. If water resistance in the main cargo compartment is a concern, I recommend looking at the more expensive Jumbo Versipack which has a storm collar.
