Men's 5.11 Covert Khaki 2.0 Pants

These pants looked good and fit reasonably well, if not a bit larage. The expandable waist band is superb for a guy like me who needs to lose a few. They're made well with good reinforcment. I strongly prefer the interior pistol clip pockets (absent in this model) and thought the exterior zippered clip pocket on the seam (mid theigh) might suffice. But under stressful conditions I do not believe a clip would be readily attainable. So I'm sticking only with pants that have the dual clip pockets inside each front pocket. They're unbeatable for my use. The only thing I'd like to see more is a "business casual" upgrade in appearance with pants that have the dual internal clip pockets.

I use all my 5.11 pants for travel and daily casual wear. The pockets are key to me. These new Covert Khaki 2.0 pants are an improvement because the zip side pockets have been enlarged. The previous version would fit a small digital camera or cell phone, but not much else. Closing the zipper on my eyeglass case was an awkward two hand proposition. I can now fit a single 30 round Mini-14 magazine - though still a two hand proposition. I can also fit my eyeglass case, pepper spray or a hammerless S&W J Frame with one hand ease. There is also a waist level coin pocket not mentioned on the tag or website. Both hip pockets are buttoned - a plus for traveling. All 4 regular pockets are deeper than normal. The bad news is there is no 5.11 trademark inside zip pocket in the front right pocket.

Great pants for almost any purpose from work to meetings. Tough and wear well. The black picks up dog hair and needs attention often. Wish there were more colors. Flap / button rear pockets would be helpful.

More refined than the 1.0 version. Dressier, better fit, more comfortable and smooth fabric. The 1.0 is more rugged but it also looks more casual and I always found the fabric harsh. For business setting, the 2.0 excel greatly, they are tough enough. I wish they came in more colors. I am a 33.5" actual measured waist and the 32" fit perfectly.

I bought these to wear golfing when the temp is a bit chilly. I have a pair of the original covert khaki's and the 1.0's seem to be a little thicker fabric and they also have the double hand pockets with the zipper which I thought was nice. Other than that, the new version is still nice and I would have given it 5 stars if they had decided to keep the extra pockets!!!

The materials used and quality of the stitching are amazing, and very durable. Perfect for rough work while having to look professional. The side pockets are great, but if anything, are a bit too wide, and could lead to objects shifting around too much (or making your knees look abnormally large). My major complaint is that these pants have an adustable wasitband (ala rented tuxedo pants) so they can stretch a bit. A little play is great if you have to keep your shirts tucked in, but these pants have too much play, and they end up looking too baggy to be true business casual style. I'd rather the adjustable waist band became an optional choice than the norm. Also, having a small hole for a mic cable to come out underneath the belt would be a great option to add; for those who want to run mics through their clothes easily. I do production and a/v, so looking good while being able to still handle all types of equipment and environments is a must, and regular clothes can't keep up.

They are lighter than the earlier version, and will fit into a office environment without looking tactical. I measured the zipper - 6". My other 5.11 trousers have a 7" zipper. It is a bit short for restroom use - you might have to undo your belt and open the buttons, which can be a problem if you're carrying concealed equipment. I'd like to see that section of the pants re-designed to return to the longer zipper.

While I "like" version 2.0 of the Covert Khaki, I loved version 1.0. I have three pairs of the 1.0 and they are the most comfortable pants I own. I notice that 2.0 does not have the diamond shaped patch sewn into the crotch of the pants giving you more movement and stretch in the pants, which is what made them so comfortable. The fabric on the 2.0 version is more light weight feeling, making me wonder how well they will hold up. These might fit slim people well, but if you got some size in your legs or are a bit stocky, these are definitely less comfortable. Maybe 5.11 can put out a "Husky" version, call them 2.5's. I do like that they put the pants out in black. A gray, navy blue and dark brown would be nice too. I would still recommend, with reservations, but I will miss the 1.0 style.
