About Altama

Altama is a leading provider of Mil-Spec boots for the U.S. Department of Defense. Founded in 1969, the Georgia-based company got its start by equipping soldiers with olive drab jungle boots during the Vietnam War. Four decades later, it continues to supply U.S. Military, federal, state and local agencies, military schools, police and Special Forces with aggressive, top-of-the-line footwear. In 2003, Altama gained more fans when it was the first to introduce its Original Ripple Sole Boots for civilian use. These combined elements provide the versatile support soldiers require when on duty in various types of environments.

I wanted lightweight boots following the boots I received at BMT. I was lucky to find these. They're light and comfortable. You'll feel like you're walking in sneakers. What's nice too is that you can feel the breeze when it's windy; it helps keep your feet warm. I don't think they're water-proof, so if that's an issue, beware. But if you want a comfortable, light pair of boots, then these are your boots. As for sizing, my BMT boots are 9.5W and my Altama's are 10W.

These boots do not run true to size. The are made for someone narrow a narrow heel and large toes. The soles are mushy and the toe is angled up like an elf shoe. Overall not a good boot.
