- Springing from Hi-Tec Sports, Magnum's birth was a result of a request from the FBI for lightweight, athletic black tactical boots in the early 1980s. I love thes boots. I work out in the oilfields in California 14 hours every day and have wore these boots rain or shine for 2 years. The only thing that has ever wore out on these shoes are the laces. 10/10 on Comfort, toughness, and durablity.
