Men's Merrell Chameleon 4 Ventilator GTX

Great construction, im sure it'll stand up to the worse. I am working in the field now and have been using them more than my last purchase of Intercept Urban. My only suggestion is that I would size up about a half a size if you foot runs a little wide.

I love these shoes. I had the Chameleon3 previously and bought the Chameleon 4 Gortex last year. I work as an audio engineer and am pretty rough on shoes, but I've found these to stand up very well and found them to be extremely comfortable. The comfort is a big factor since I'm on my feet for sometimes up to 16 hours a day. Having them be waterproof is awesome as I am also often in the rain or wet grass and dry, comfortable feet are happy feet! I've also found them also great for using for workouts on my off days. It's great to have a shoe that I can use for everything and have it last for a long time. My only gripe is that they aren't always made in black. Last year I found them in black/grey and bought them right away. I'm always are required to wear lot's of black clothes for the production work I'm involved in, so it doesn't make sense for me to wear everything else black and have a pair of brown shoes. Please start making them in black again!

I am currently working in Afghanistan and have been wearing them everyday. They are great on my feet especially in this rocky and sandy terrain here on the base, they provide plenty of air and cushioning so my feet stay dry and comfortable which is important since I am on my feet all day. would defiantly buy another pair when these wear out.

I have had these shoes for a couple of months now. My previous shoes were a pair of Chameleon 3's and I was so upset to see that they are no long made because they were the best shoes I had ever owned. They kept my feet dry even through puddles and they lasted me almost two years! So I replaced them with what seemed to be an even better shoe. I was very disappointed after wearing these for a few weeks upon finding a few minor imperfections which I felt were unacceptable for a pair of $145 shoes. Although they weren't enough to make me want to send them back, it should have tipped me off that my pair must not be up to the quality that Merrell prides themselves on. 1. The Gore-Tex emblems aren't in the exact same place on the shoe. They look as if they were haphazardly glued there by somebody. 2. In many places, where the rubber sole meets the leather some glue protrudes from under the sole. 3. The second eyelet from the top on the outside of both shoes protrudes far too much and interferes with the shoelace guide that runs down the middle of the tongue. These were all minor imperfections that I could have looked past if only these shoes functioned well enough for my needs. But, upon mowing some pretty wet grass today I walked inside and took my shoes off. The insides of both shoes were considerably damp in the toe areas, along with my socks! Water couldn't have leaked into my shoes because my ankles weren't wet at all. I really couldn't believe that these shoes were that inferior to my old Chameleon 3's and regret spending the money on these.

This is my first pair of Merrells. Before now, I had heard only good things about the brand, and this pair has confirmed those rumors. This morning, I was cleaning snow off of my car, and there wasn't a single flake on my shoes when I got in the car (my old boots would have been encrusted with snow, and pretty much soaked through). Also, the support is incredible; and they broke in with just a few hours' wear! I'm rating the size as smaller than expected, but keep in mind that I have especially wide feet. So, if you have a normal foot width, I would expect your normal size to fit well.

I just got my pair of Chameleon4 Ventilator GORE-TEX hiking shoes. They have NONE of the clown-like appearance of the Chameleon3's or the lack of support that the Chameleon 3's had. The sole is stiff like the old Chameleon ventilators. Merrell had strayed but they ARE BACK!! The Chameleon 4's are really comfortable and they are great hiking shoes. They have great traction and provide great support.

This is by-far the best pair of Merrells I have owned! It rains a lot in Alaska and the Gore-tex has certainly held up well. The stiffer Vibram sole is also a huge plus for hiking around here. They fit my feet perfectly too. I plan on upgrading to the Chameleon 4 Mid soon for more rugged hiking. I recently bought a pair of Mids for my dad and they are much lighter than my Danner hiking boots Overall, I have absolutely no complaints about these shoes.
