Durable, Vibram soles made in USA
Reviewer: J. Smith | West-central MA
I bought these back in May of '04. Soles are just starting to detach from the shoe now, but the entire shoe itself is pretty worn out. Still keeps out if I happen to accidently go ankle deep in a puddle - not bad for almost 7 years of service! I have another pair of $20 shoes that split in half on the sides not 2 months into wearing them! I'm more of a motorhead than a hiker, but these have seen their fair share of mileage, mostly on pavement. Ran them quite a few times by accident (forgot work boots) on a city recycling route - one of the toughest jobs on the planet for footwear. Taken them ATV riding through mud & water many times. Many miles on dirtbikes & streetbikes too. Everything from that, to just walking around the house, doing yard work, or working on cars & motorcycles, crouched down on the ground. They've been a daily-worn shoe since day one, with the exception of about 3 months of winter when snow is on the ground. I prefer my insulated boots for those times. After these I've become a big fan of Merrell. Ordering another pair today - only because when driving, the soles are starting to catch on the gas pedal when trying to stop! 6 years & 7 months of dedicated service!
Best hiker I have owned in a long time

I have owned two pairs of these boots and about to buy a third. I had to replace the first pair because the waterproofing stopped waterproofing after a couple of years this second pair is about the same. Other than that they have held up to moderate to heavy use and are one of the most comfortable boots once they are broke in. I'm buying my third as soon as I can a good deal.
Waterproof, but not that warm
Reviewer: OkieGirl | Oklahoma
I've only had these for 3 days. I bought these in an emergency (snow storm) from a local shoe store, and paid way too much. Having worn only sneakers for the past several years, these boots took some getting used to.
-Very stable. I think my knees aren't hurting as bad since I've been wearing them.
-Removable insole (accommodates my orthotic inserts
-Good at keeping feet dry through snow, slush, and puddles
-Don't make my feet look huge
-Although waterproof, they're not really any warmer than my sneakers. Of course, they're not marketed as winter boots, so I'm not complaining so much as just giving a heads-up to others.
-Price: They're kind of pricey for glued-sole shoes. I'd have felt better about the price if the shoes were sewn.
-Condensation? After I wear these, when I take the insoles out to air the boots, I find water droplets inside the boot. My feet are dry, but the inside of the boot is not.
