Whether you're running five miles a day or rushing from class to class on your feet, the seriously comfortable 990 takes you everywhere in timeless casual style.

Features

  • Blown rubber forefoot
  • Dual-density Collar uses both a softer density foam against the foot for cushioning, and a firmer density foam for support
  • Medicare / HCPCS code = A5500 Diabetic shoe
  • Pigskin/Mesh upper
  • Reflective detailing enhances your visibility
  • These shoes are proudly made in New Balance's U.S. factories by their more than 1,300 U.S. workers. Where the domestic value is at least 70%, New Balance have labeled them "Made in USA."

Having the right fit is essential to performing your best, no matter what your activity. That's why New Balance offers the majority of their shoes in multiple widths, from narrow (2A) to extra-extra-wide (6E). New Balance is the only manufacturer to offer so many width options, ensuring you the best possible fit.

What size are you?

  • In general, the regular Men's width is "D"; for Women, the regular width is "B".If the majority of shoes you own, or have purchased in the past, fit adequately, these are the widths you should select.
  • If the shoes you own tend to feel overly spacious in width, you should consider selecting a narrower width size. If the shoes you own tend to feel noticeably narrow or snug, then you should consider selecting a wider width size.
  • If your feet seem "between" sizes and you cannot decide which size to select, we suggest you choose the larger size. You can make adjustments for a better fit with socks, insoles, or a different lacing pattern.
  • Since feet always swell during the day, we encourage you to try shoes on later in the day when your feet are at their largest.

Sizing Tips:

  • With respect to feel, your heel should fit snug with no slipping; the midfoot of the shoe under your arch and over the top of your foot should be snug but not tight; and you should have enough room in the toe box to wiggle your toes.
  • People are more than twice as likely to buy a shoe that is too small than too big. Clues that your shoes are too small or narrow include - foot cramping or "falling asleep" while running or just after running or the formation of blisters and calluses between or on your toes.
  • New Balance shoes are made to fit directly out of the box. They do not need to be broken in.
  • Feet typically get bigger with age. We encourage you to have your feet measured every year.
  • Women's feet often become a half-size (or more) larger after pregnancy.
  • Your left and right feet may differ in length or width as much as a full size. Be sure to measure and try shoes on both feet, and always buy shoes to fit your larger foot.

New Balance earned their position as the leader in Total Fitâ„¢ by offering more fit combinations than any other footwear company. In addition to shoe length and width, they use a shoe last. A shoe last is a 360 degree model of the foot used to create each shoe's heel width, instep height, toe box width and toe box depth. Though it's not the primary factor, in conjunction with length and width, the shoe last helps you achieve the best possible fit.

I recently had to throw out my last pair of Nike Air cross trainers that were falling apart after several years of casual use. I normally wear boots most of the time....95%. However, I always keep at least one pair of sneakers on hand when I need something I can run full speed in or when I plan on doing a lot of fast paced walking. I have owned Nike Airs since the 1980's and always stuck with those. My last pair (about 2004) was a very plain black and gray cross training running shoe and looked good on a man of my age. They don't make any like that anymore. Today in 2016 the colors and styles are so wild and out there, I'd be embarrassed to be seen in them if I was older than a teenager or a college aged early twenties man.....which I certainly am (middle aged). I also wasn't fond of everything being cheaply made in China now, yet still fetching those high prices. I found exactly what I was looking for in these for not much more money. I bought the gray 990 V3s and have loved them ever since. Sure they costed a tad more, but you are getting much much more for your hard earned money. I also discovered these can be resoled/refurbished from a factory authorized repair facility for a nominal fee. That alone makes the purchase price totally worth it. The only thing I didn't like about these new shoes were the laces. No problem.....being a USMC Veteran I had some Mil-Spec 550 gray paracord on hand that I made my own out of. They make the shoes look much better. I've read stories of other owners buying gray reflective laces. Seems it's a common problem for older guys to not like these gaudy laces and change them out before even wearing them. Other than that no issues whatsoever and I'm extremely happy with them. GO USA!

I was very happy with this model and purchased the exact same shoe after the previous pair wore out. My foot doctor also said this was a very good model for support.
