Comfortable, athletic shoe lightness

Second pair of Oakleys. Only a few days on them so far but have been impressed with them so far. I've high instep so they're a little hard to get on but feel like a pair of tall sneakers. I'm a Rider Coach with MSF & they've worked well on asphalt for long days.

For years I had avoided the Oakley boots thinking they were a trend like Hi-techs were in the 90's. Man was I wrong. I am not sure if it is me or if others are having similar issues, but the boots do seem to run almost a 1/2 inch too big. However, I replaced the flat bread insole with some bulky roll insoles and the problem is fixed. I LOVE the option of a true speed lace. Routing the laces from the unused eyelet straight up to the first speed eyelet reduces friction and wear across the flex point of the ankle. LOVE IT! The weight is acceptable, in fact I prefer my boots to still feel a little like boots. Nice aggressive tread. So far so good, hope they last is all.

These boots are very comfortable. I am a police officer who executes search warrants several times a month, and these boots are great, and didnt take long to break them in. They are a little on the heavy side, but I think they are more durable than similar boots with lighter weight. True to size....The lacing system has some room for improvement- as the aces I received are very thin, slippery(dont hold against friction) and are fraying against the eyelets. Other than that, I love these things. Just don't think you are going to get in a foot chase and win with these on....
Great Boot Worth the Price!

I originally bought this model boot while in Iraq. The first few versions had issues that most who are familiar with the boot know about. I can say that the errors have been fixed. Most notably, the common complaint about the heel cup tearing out. It appears to me that the heel cup has been reinforced and now has a leather-type covering that reduces the friction on that part of the boot which was the main cause for the problem. Also, if you only loosen the boot to the point where the speed lace eyelets stop you are putting undue strain on that area with your heel while removing the boot. If you loosen one more eyelet there is minimal friction. That being said, I love this boot now more than ever. It is extremely comfortable, looks good and performs excellently in all aspects.

I wore the last pair for over two years, did not even have to break them in. I just put them on it felt like they were made for my feet. Finally, they wore out. Just got my second pair. They material design has been changed, hard to get on, do not like the strings, and the material pinches my right foot, I do like the soles, but Oakley you need to go back to the old design. I am not as satisfied with these boots as I was the first pair, like the soles as I said above, but do not like the design, the top of the boot is too small it is hard to get your foot into and i do not have big feet. If I had known I would have had these problems I would not have got the second pair.
8" SI Boot

I bought these in July 2008. I wore them everyday in OEF through Feb 09 and then again on a short tour Aug 09-Dec09. I still wear them nearly every day, Dec11 now. They lost alot of their support in the last year. The soles are pretty worn out. Stiching around the sole has not come undone, they aren't stained even after getting oil on them at the motorpool a number of times. The vent covers haven't come off after months of route clearance through rocky terrain and the soles haven't split or broken any treads off the bottom. The eyelets got sharp after about 6 months and started cutting my laces occasionally. My set is made in the USA. Heck i'd take a picture and post them if I could, they look worn but nothing is functionally wrong except they don't feel too supportive like I mentioned. Time for a new set but I feel like the abuse I put them through was worth the money i paid to get three years of good use out of them. I'll keep them to abuse around the house.
still not worth it

my second pair lasted me 4 months this time. again the same issue as my last review. glad i got this pair free from 1 year defective warranty from the last pair. still feel i didnt get the 185 value form both pairs combined.
however when getting the second pair customer support was awsome, very easy to deal with. and for a second and final time, THE QUALITY OF YOUR BOOTS ARE HORRIBLE OAKLEY!!!!!
Not worth the money...

I love Oakley products, but their boots just don't cut it. Along with the other review previously, I too had the back of the heel in the inside tear and caused a lot of blisters. I learned how much they were broken after a ruck March and painful blisters.
waste of money

with the amount of money these boots cost one would think they are getting a quality product.
I bought a pair of these oakley boots and in two months the leather inside the boot thats against the back of your heel has completely worn out.
I only wear them to work. i dont wear them improperly (loose). I was hoping t get a year out of them.
stick to making sunglasses oakley, your boots are horrible

Luv the design! From the subtle Oakley logo, to the rugged tyre-like thread cuts, to the two-tone desert color on the boots, unbelievable!
And it's weight is amazingly light & it's also quite comfy. I am thinking of getting another pair already! ( maybe another color variation )
Highly recommended for work or play.
About Oakley 8" SI Assault - A
Walking over difficult terrain in both wet and dry environments is made easy with the directional lug geometry and the vulcanized rubber sole featured on the Oakley SI Assault. This sole also grips rough and smooth surfaces while a gusseted tongue keeps debris from entering. The boots are lightweight so they do not tire the wearer over long distances and they provide comfort with urethane shock absorption. They also feature a specialized, climate control liner that comes treated with an anti-microbial agent. The soft temper materials remove the need for a painful break-in period and make them both instantly comfortable and virtually silent to walk in.
Since the 1980s, Oakley has been providing U.S. troops with military gear and boots. Best known for its popular eyewear, it has spent millions on developing products for those in the armed forces. Over time, Oakley's military line has transformed from a few models to a highly specialized division within the company.
