    • After a decade of travels, adventures and courageous expeditions, the Suunto Vector is still the most legendary of all the Suunto outdoor devices. With technology and durability that can take on the harshest of environments, the unique heritage of Suunto Vector has withstood the test of time.

      Features

      • Altimeter with vertical speed measurement and altitude alarm
      • Barometer with pressure difference measurement
      • Compass with leveling bubble for more accurate reading
      • Multiple watch functions
      • Light plastic housing in a selection of colors
      • User replaceable battery

      Altimeter
The altimeter features a range up to 9,000 m / 29,500 feet, putting all 14 of the world's 8,000+ meter summits within your reach. Suunto Vector also features an altitude difference measurement function for following the vertical progress between different stages of a climb. It has an automatic 24-hour memory that stores the altitude and ascent/descent rate for every hour and also features an adjustable altitude alarm and a number of different memory functions. With the unique logbook function, you can also record your total and cumulative vertical ascents and descents, as well as the number of runs skied.

      Barometer
Suunto Vector displays the current barometric pressure and temperature, enabling you to forecast weather changes when they matter most. It also automatically records barometric data for the past four days: the first six hours in one-hour intervals and in six-hour intervals thereafter. When the reference altitude is set correctly, the instrument also shows the present sea level pressure, making it easier for you to read and understand the barometric pressure at high altitudes. However, when touring the mountains, don't forget that the detected barometric pressure changes when you are moving in a vertical direction, which at times, makes the tracking of weather changes a bit more complicated.

      Compass
The digital compass of Suunto Vector guides you with cardinal or half-cardinal points and the north-south arrow. The compass can also be set to track a certain bearing, which helps you follow a desired direction in unknown terrain. The declination adjustment function allows you to correct the difference between true north and magnetic north, for a more accurate reading and direction.

      Time
In addition to the outdoor-related functions, Suunto Vector also displays current time, in either 12 or 24-hour format. It has three daily alarms, a calendar programmed to the year 2089, a stopwatch with split-time measurement, and a countdown timer.

    About Suunto

Suunto collage As a passionate outdoorsman, Tuomas Vohlonen only had one issue with orienteering—the inaccuracy surrounding the dry compass. Putting his engineer background to use, Vohlonen discovered a method to steadying the needle, which ensured more accurate readings. By the 1950s, Suunto was manufacturing compasses for land and sea use, but it wasn't for another 10 years that the first diving compass was produced. The company's really started to grow after the production of the SME dive computer. Immediately realizing the potential, it combined computers and compasses in its wristwatches. Today Suunto produces specialized instruments for training, diving, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, sailing and golfing.

    • 5 out of 5 I'm not in the military but I've been a Vector owner for a little over 8 years. I may not put it through the extremes that the other reviewers have but its seen regular use for 8 years and has never let me down. Tough, functional, reliable and good looking, Vector gets it done.

    • 2 out of 5 I hate to say it, but I have had nothing but trouble with my Vector. I purchased the watch in OCT/NOV 07 and by JAN 08, I was already cursing and swearing up a storm. To my absolute horror after getting out of the shower one day, 2/3's of the interior under the crystal was full of water. Shortly thereafter, the watch itself began to display a whole cacophony of symbols and various intensities of each of the icons. I thought to myself "Self, maybe you should get a new battery." So I did, and the watch lasted another 4 weeks, then died. Repeat that process one more time, and that is where I am today. I had looked forward to my watch, but instead have a nice little paperweight. Looks like a G-Shock or Timex in my near future.

    • 4 out of 5 I shoot High Power Matches with my M1A. I was worried that this watch couldn't stand the recoil. After 2 years I've missed but this watch hasn't. Good Watch.

    • 5 out of 5 I bought a Vector HR (all black) for my 2010 deployment to Afghanistan. After 9 months it's held up amazingly well. It's been buried in dirt/sand, hit against blunt objects with force, and went through severe temperature differences in short periods all with no problems. It's very accurate and durable. It's especially nice having a HR monitor while training so I can accurately monitor the intensity, varying accordingly. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the glass cover doesn't scratch as easily as my old original Vector. My only "complaint" if you even want to call it that is the Suunto logo scratching off pretty easily. But that's to say nothing of it's function. Amazing watch.

    • 5 out of 5 I bought this watch 2 years ago just before I was to go to pre deployment training in New Jersey. I was there for 2 months and put this watch through hell. I then deployed to Afghanistan where I used the watch on a daily basis whether it was for the compass, temp, or altimeter. This watch performed! I just replaced the battery with the battery kit after 2 years and now its back up and running like a champ. I would recommend this product to anyone and look forward to buying another Suunto product soon!

    • 4 out of 5 I was deployed to the Helmand Province, Afghanistan. As a Marine, I put this watch through HELL. It maintained perfectly as I was in and out of several convoys, sand storms, and extreme combat. The glass has a couple of scratches, but still looks great! Complaints; (1) bezel ring degrees have worn off. (2) inside of the watch got fogged up one time, but i let it dry out for a day and was fine. and (3) and yes the logo on the outside wears off as well. But all of this has happen over my year deployment. Outstanding Watch!!

    • 5 out of 5 I bought this watch 2 weeks ago to use for a second skydiving altimeter, it's perfect! I was a little worried that the altimeter wouldn't be able to keep up with the extremely fast speeds of freefall, but there were no issues at all. I bought the yellow vector and even with the black backface I could see the numbers perfectly. Great altimeter watch and I now feel completely comfortable trusting it during freefall without the use of my main altimeter.
