The TR-1 insert is the most comfortable I've ever experienced. My feet don't sweat and my ankles are secure. The most comfortable boots I've ever tried. Just wish they came with a GoreTex liner.

      6/7/2015

I've worn these off and on since I bought them and wear them exclusively during the 2-gun match's I shoot during the year. Still the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. The only down side so far is the stitching on the toe. Only one stitch has come loose. I put some super glue in the stich holes and so far so good.

      Reviewer: Rudy

      5/12/2015

Toe overlay delaminated within 4 months. Stiching is real bad. I've had to epoxy the stiching in 4 places on the right boot and 6 places on the left to keep the boots together 3rd and 4th round eyelets from the bottom wore any type of shoelaces out - best braided or leather, about every 3-4 weeks with ordinary daily wear. Will have to say that the fit & comfort is very good.

This pack does it al but most of all it is perfect for my EDC use. Plenty of room for large objects and even more than ample pockets for the little stuff that you need to keep organized. Really like that the new design and most of all the admin pocket update. pens now fit all the way in the pen holes.

      12/16/2014

I don't have enough time with these to provide any insight on durability, however these are living up to their rep for comfort. I love the grip they provide. As someone with an exceptionally wide foot, it's nice to find a wide boot that's actually wide. Two things I don't care for: The laces are closed loops all the way up so getting them tight top to bottom takes extra effort. The second parts are ; the sole doesn't wrap up as high as the old ones (have 6" old style) and second layer of "leather" wrapping the toe box is also smaller, could prove to be a wear issue. It's been pretty cool out since getting these and my feet are staying really warm, probably not the coolest boots when the weather warms up. A solid boot, based on my experience with the 6" and these so far I'd recommend them for medium duty use.

      Reviewer: John

      3/11/2014

As far as comfort in the sole of the boot these were awesome. The comfort quickly went away as soon as I took a step, as one of the eyelets along the topside of my ankle dug into my foot. I adjusted the laces multiple times to try to get a better fit and mitigate the issue with the eyelet, but no matter what I did there was constant pain associated with the eyelet digging into my foot. These boots had potential but this design flaw (for me) ruined them, and they were returned.

Bought my first pair in 2010. So far these have been the best pair of boots I have purchased. They are very comfortable, provided good support, and lasted through numerous ruck marches and one deployment in Iraq. I still use them during field exercises and plan on buying another pair. I have not had the same issues as other reviewers but one issue i have had are with the bootlaces, the eyelets keep cutting my laces. Other than that I have not had any other issues with these boots.

      10/28/2013

I picked my pair up at AIT in Ft, Sam Houston, I wore the hell out of them day in and day out for 18 weeks there, reclassed to Ft. Lee, and wore them day in and day out through that AIT, I've been home for about a month and I have been wearing them to work, (I walk in my civilian life just as much as we do in the military training), I have finally deemed them worn out, because I have worn the treads flat and uneven. I have been entirely satisfied with these boots. They lace up quick, they clean easy, the traction was outstanding and the comfort was "OH MY GOD" good. They also breathe well, I haven't had to take off a pair of sweaty socks since I bought these 8 months ago, in saying so they aren't as water resistant as other boots may be. I've also had many compliments from Battles, that they look like good boots, and that they have never noticed me having uniform issues pertaining to my boots. I love these boots to the degree of wishing these were standard issue. They may not be the best but they are right up there.

If they fall apart while just walking around the base on paved roads and sidewalks I cant imagine wearing these out on mission.

Only issue is that stains are hard to remove. I am a medic and since we train with fake blood, my boots are now pink since the stains set in very quickly. Tried soaking and scrubbing but no success.

      Reviewer: SSGArmyDude

      6/21/2011

I recommend buying this boot online for around this price. The price at your local tactical store around your military base will rip you off my friend and will cost you around $150 bucks or more <-thieves. The boots feel comfy and almost comparable with the popular black hawk boots. The bottom seems pretty durable and long lasting as well! My only con is that they are made in China. You rarely find a good boot like this made in America. Actually, I don't think there is any.

      Reviewer: Hans K,

      5/17/2011

At first they rub a bit on the back strap. Once broken in they are great. I miss a pull loop on top to get them on, the laces are fat change them to thinner ones for ease of lacing. They shine in soft steep slops of dirt or rocks. The boot to sole size is perfect for narrow spots in truck or between rocks. Super light for running with good ankle support when pulled up tight on the laces. I got the darker brown with camo, very nice. The full vibram soles on other boots (stitched on) will be softer on hard ground or pavement, with the inner foam layer they have. These are good around. With only no loop or easy of lacing as a downgrade. I would recommend them more off road work, Good value.

    • Great boot but has some issues
      Reviewer: Nick

      5/9/2011

I like the boot overall. If your looking for a good field boot then this is it. It is not a garrison / sport boot like Nike or Oakley, it is a true boot. Drawbacks; 1. Laces keep breaking, I go through about a pair every two months. The problem is the speed eyelets are not rounded over on the edges and cut into the laces when pulled tight. 2. If you place most of your weight on your heels (like I do) then you will need to buy some gel heel pads (about $5.00) since there is absolutely no shock absorption padding for your heels. Been in the Army 22 years and have had many pairs of boots. Overall, I like the look, feel, and durability of these despite the few shortfalls they have. That is why I am buying another pair but in multicam today.

Got these for Christmas, and have worn them almost every day since. Would give it a 4.5 star, but since they won't do 1/2 stars, round up to five stars. Been wearing them for about 5 weeks now so here is THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY. The Good Super comfortable, no problems breaking them in. Shoe-like in comfort. Heck may not have needed to break them in, but it's a good excuse to wear them around. They are that comfortable. And yes I've been wearing them almost every day for 5 weeks now. Very good ankle support. No concerns when I go camping and backpacking in the near future. if they last as long as my last pair of boots (11 years), I'll be going to Philmont or Bechtel in them with my scouts. Did a short 1 mile hike and had no problems. Very good traction. Played in remnants of snow, ice, and mud. No problems moving about. See 'The Ugly" about the treads though. No slipping and sliding. The Bad Laces are short. Just takes a little longer putting on. I've already ordered some tan 550 cord to solve the problem, no big deal. Not speed laces. The upper D rings look like speed laces, but are not. So putting on takes some time. HOWEVER if your knot comes undone or loosens up, the D rings provide enough friction to keep the boot on to provide ankle support. I can live with it. Knots have come undone 2 times and took me some time to realize they were undone. Drainage holes. Didn't realize there were drainage holes on inside curve of the boot. Not to big a fan of drainage holes, and have mixed emotions on them. Silicon will seal them up, but prevents some ventilation. Still debating. Not waterproof. A little Kiwi Protector and problem was solved. Again not a big deal. Get dirty easy. You definitely want a Kiwi Boot Cleaning kit that has the waterproof spray, boot protector spray, and the brushes. Keeps them looking good. The Ugly The treads on the boot are so deep that the wife complained that I was tracking dirt throughout the house. So make sure to take off the boots ASAP when coming into the house after playing in the mud. Worth the traction the boots give. Not speed laces. The upper D rings look like speed laces, but are not. So putting on takes some time. HOWEVER if your knot comes undone or loosens up, the D rings provide enough friction to keep the boot on to provide ankle support. I can live with it.

These boots were great right out of the box. Took maybe an hour for them to break in. Size is true to other Bellevilles. Great insole if you have a high arch. Only complaint is that I already broke a lace which is why I gave them a 4 star review instead of 5. Other than, a great boot at a great price.
