Tru-Spec M-65 Field Jacket with Liner

Whether you require lightweight outerwear or a heavily insulated option, the versatile Tru-Spec M-65 Field Jacket can adapt to meet those needs. It mimics the M65 jacket made popular by the U.S. military, so the design is tried and true. The water-resistant, nylon / cotton sateen outer layer comes with a removable liner for optional insulation. The liner attaches with buttons on the interior of the jacket and is built from polyester batting, an insulation made from quilted fabric between a layer of patchwork and backing material. Exterior buttons on the liner allow it to be worn separately from the outer layer.

    • Great all purpose jacket. Cheap snap closures
      Reviewer: Wil. Lewis Jr

      2/5/2016

This jacket is a all purpose jacket. It fits well, the liner is comforting although some of the filling has come out: very little though. I haven't given it a washing as of this date. The jacket repels water well and dries quickly. The snap closures on the pocket aren't designed to well. My upper left snap just popped as a result of frequent use and I haven't had the jacket for two months yet. I think I will replace all the snaps with Velcro. The hood of the jacket is great. It is easily accessible while wearing and its large enough the cover a helmet or any other headgear. The Velcro closures on the sleeves could be a little longer to cover the full female(sticky)section of the sleeve. Over all the jacket is a great "all purpose jacket."

This is a great jacket to wear around when working out doors or even to hunt in when liner is installed during those colder days . It's close to matching my Marine Corps issue M-65 but the color is a little darker . Heavy zipper and large pockets . There is a hood in the collar I believe , have not tried to pull it out yet so not sure . I have worn it in the bushes and briars and it seems to be holding up nice . I think this jacket will last me a long while .

I like this jacket ,I also ordered the Olive Drab. When I received this latest order (Black Field jacket) the jacket was folded in a box ,wrapped in the proper paper but was slightly (spotted)dirty. It was as though the jacket was dropped on a warehouse floor then placed in the box and shipped. The Olive Drab jacket came wrapped in plastic (in its bag) and spotless.I was disappointed with the condition this Black Field jacket was shipped to me.

      Reviewer: Greg Meyer

      12/7/2015

I was thrilled to find a field jacket like I was issued in my size but it isn't exactly like the old ones. I believe the zipper is shorter, and no flaps at the end of the sleeve to protect your hands. Other than that it is a really nice jacket . If they made it to original specs I would buy another.

Just received this jacket. It is very similar to the field coat I had while serving in the Army. Really like it. It does size on the large side. I,m 6'4 and weigh 205 lbs and ordered the Large Long. It's a little loose at the waist but like the the Army version, has a drawstring. A great buy.

      Reviewer: Dan Armstrong

      11/12/2015

The jacket is overall of good materials and construction. However, on the bottom of the jacket you are missing the last snap closer on the storm flap. This gives an "unmade bed" look to the jacket, as it should be "bloused". All military personal will know what I mean.

    • An Excellent Field Jacket
      Reviewer: Bard

      8/3/2015

I prefer the Tru-Spec brand over other popular labels because the clothing fits me the best. I usually purchase XL/L outer-wear to compensate for undergarments, shirts, and other jackets/coats. I did the same for this particular Field Jacket, but as it turned out, the XL/L fit more like an 2XL/R. That's not a complaint - it's just that the jacket ran a bit larger than I had anticipated (in this case, a L/L would have sufficed). The sizing issue has been the "exception to the rule", so to speak - usually "over-compensation" works for TRU-SPEC outerwear (FYI - keep in mind when considering this particular garment vs. others from the same line). The jacket itself is great, and I'll probably order a size down in the future.

    • Larger-than-Expected but Great M-65
      Reviewer: Bard

      8/1/2015

Tru-Spec - cannot say enough great things about their products. I love the M-65 jacket - it is well-made, attractive, and has many subtle-and-appreciated features. Why 4-stars vs. 5? I'm 6', 195 lbs; usually, a Tru-Spec XL/L jacket/shirt/tactical shirt fits perfectly. In this case, not so much - the shoulders are too large, and jacket's length is larger than expected. So if you're my size, I'd recommend a L/L (shoulders will feel/look more secure, and the length should just drop below the waist). Otherwise, and excellent field-jacket.

I received my first field jacket from the Army in the fall of 1970, I was 18 and out grew it, so I received a second one from the Army when I was 23, received a third one when they switched to the woodland pattern.... Now in my 60s, and bought my 4th jacket , bought the OD green. This jacket is very close, only minor differences between it and my original issue field jackets.... I am pleased with it, fits right, looks right.... price is right.... good all round jacket .... now let's see if it stands up to a wash and some moderate use. I don't remember the button on the outside of the zipper flap? Does anybody else? I don't remember using it.

5 stars would require perfection.... so very close but not perfect.... comment is based upon the new jacket received today, it hasn't been washed several times yet..... color is right, fabric feels right....zipper is good... I am glad I bought it.. the major issue is the pockets, chest pockets are the same width and length but not the same depth.... the hip pockets seem to be small , not deep enough... .. my issue with the pockets would be more important if I still went in the field like I did in the 70s with the Army.... It is unlikely I will want to put M16 magazines in the pockets ever again.... buy it. buy it buy iy
