Altama OTB Maritime Assault Mid

Originally designed for Navy SEALs, the Altama OTB Maritime Assault was made for tactical water operations, but is versatile enough for everyday wear. These are equipped with high-abrasion and quick-drying Cordura quarter panels that are rugged enough to withstand repeated heavy-duty use. Air mesh linings in the shoe wick away water, sweat and anything in between. As you maneuver through wetlands, the drainage ports allow water to easily exit while you move. The outsoles are modified for wet tactical operations, making them one of the stickiest, high-traction rubber outsoles available. The Altama OTB Maritime Assault will keep you comfortable, supported and stable on any slippery mission. These shoes work with you, but also work for you.

      Reviewer: James D

      6/7/2018

Bought 1 low pair in Black, and I’m hooked, so I bought this mid pair in Multicam. After nearly 20 years rolling a pair of Vans, they went downhill. They were killing my feet, blisters and all. Two friends recommended Altama OTB, and in Black, they look just like one of my Vans that I swapped from with the low pair. Come to find out, you can go swimming in these. Tested that and sure enough. Comfort, while new level. I’m a big dude at 6’3” and wear a 13 Show. No breakin period at all. Unbox them, put them on, immediately comfortable. I work plain clothes Security for a living, and the long hours demand comfort and durability. If it’s good enough to be used in the water by the SEAL Teams, it’s good enough to do Search & Rescue, plus work with. Found a new shoe as my go-to.

Wore them all day and walked quite a bit. No issues. Felt great. They are designed to be worn without socks people!!!! So this shoe is like a converse shoe it’s flat but I love them and I have high arches. Comfortable the insole is super sticky so I recommend changing the insole if you want more support. I didn’t change anything about this shoe. You can wear them without socks or with socks. Good shoe no issues I bought an 11 size wide. They do run tight so if you don’t want them to tight get the wide I did no issues.

      4/27/2018

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they were just WAY too narrow. I do not have big feet. I have never bought a wide shoe in my life, nor ever considered it. I bought a size 8 regular. The length of the 8 was perfect. Plenty of space between the front of my toes to the front of the shoe but the width was painfully small. I had to send them back.

Still in the air on these. The soles remind me of my Chaco’s. I got these to work in when raining, and they were great for that. I wear them with no socks. If I plan on wearing them all day long, I throw in a pair of superfeet insoles. The soles are slick though, especially on concrete.

      Reviewer: Charles Sager

      4/14/2018

Good product. For me, it runs about a 1/2 size small and narrow. The insert is very grippy and makes it difficult to get the boot on if you want to wear socks. I removed the insert and they fit much better.

    • I like 'em
      Reviewer: GR

      4/10/2018

These boots or chukkas as I would normally refer to them are very nice and comfortable. Now as the description points out it was designed for water type missions hence the narrowness of the boot for fin use. I didn't see it here on the description, but it is also designed to wear without socks. The insole has that tacky feel to it since it was designed for water use. Now since the majority of time I will be using them is on dry land, I will change out the insoles to accommodate the use of socks. If and when I decide to get them wet, I will simply change out insoles again. If you have a super wide foot, then these are probably not the best shoe to purchase. I'm like in between so my 9's fit just right and there is some give simply due to its construction. As for the black camo color.....it looks even better than on any website.

      Reviewer: John

      4/9/2018

These 'boots' are a departure from what I would normally wear for a trip to the BWCA. Working on breaking them in a bit. Slight pinch at the flex point that I'm hoping will feel better after some wear or my foot will toughen up a bit in that spot. The front shank feels a little funny on my left side. I must have a structural difference at the ball of my left foot because I feel pressure there when I wear these. I've never noticed it in any of my other boots. I'll try to do a follow up after the trip.

      Reviewer: Chuck Sager

      4/7/2018

Overall a decent product. Looks like it would be comfortable, but unfortunately they run small and narrow. I wish I could give a better review, but I could barely get my feet into them, much less wear them for any amount of time. In addition to them running small, the insert is super grippy and socks stick to them causing your socks to be pulled tight against your toes when putting them on. Maybe with a larger size, you'd be able to get your feet into them without the socks being pulled tight and cramping your toes. I do like the shoes and will exchange them for a wide, and maybe even go up a size.

      4/6/2018

I wear a 10.5, the 11s fit nice. I tried a 10 and it was close but a little too tight. Slightly narrow but nothing crazy. They have wide sizes so try em out? My advice, if you're a half size get two pair and return the one that doesn't fit as well. Go with the two sizes you are in between and get the smaller pair in a wide. Immediately replace the insole if you aren't using for diving. 9.5R insoles from some Rocky's fit perfectly, literally same shape and size.

Couldn't be happier with the black Altama OTB Mids! They're good-looking and functional. Speaking of functional ... They are comfortable and light. It's easy to swap insoles if you don't like the grabby rubber ones that come with the shoe. The generous vents will let water in as easily as they drain it out, but in my limited experience with them so far, they dry quickly enough that getting my socks a little wet was no problem. This site had the best price I could find, so I took a chance and bought a pair sized 12 (I'm a 10-1/2, with wide feet). Put the 12s on and they fit great, right off. Just like Converse, size-wise. Quality and construction look top-shelf. I'm going to wait a month to see how they hold up and am likely to buy a pair in coyote at that time.

      Reviewer: NOMAD 1 ACTUAL

      11/11/2017

These shoes rock but have a slight pressure point on my right foot after long periods of time in them. This could also be due to the fact that these run slightly narrow on the width end of things. A little thing to point out for you wider foot range guys or girls, don't get them unless you are willing to shove a meatloaf into a turkey, because it's going to be tight... shoes breath and my time with them on my motorcycle have been pretty enjoyable. Breathe easy and feel the shifts and breaks better than my regular steel toes on. Don't tug too hard on the back strap loop l, I've actually started separating the loop from the shoe only having them for less than 6 days. The insoles are alright, not super comfortable and also they are really, really, really!!!! Sticky so I recommend switching to aftermarket soles, unless you like having your sock rude back into the heel and bunch up. I've been having some issues if you can't already tell. These shoes are still awesome In my opinion though they have there pitfalls, but they do the job. 89 bucks for these shoes may come to you as a bit on the steep side for all the things I've listed. I do hope they read thus review and improve on thus design and make a second generation shoe with better everything.

      Reviewer: Scott

      9/25/2017

Great design and materials. I've used them in water and on land. They're light weigt, drain quick, dry fast, and the sticky soles do surprisingly well on dirt and rock terrain. The drainage port mesh material rips pretty easy in the brush, but even so it doesn't seem to cause a problem, just wish it was a little more robust. The glue used to seal the toe caps to the boot bleeds out a bit when they get hot. Minor issues overall, and I'll definitely buy another pair when these wear out. The coyote color looks great. More solid color choices would be great.

Over all, good...if I purchase again, it will be the test of time. It's disappointing that it's made overseas, and the rubber toe is a bit off on one. Regular size problem is relieved by removing insole for "on the wide side customers" like me. Other than that...a lot of good basic tactical designs put together to make this a valuable, usable product. I will definitely do business with you again. Quick Ship, Great Customer Service.

I've been wearing them since I received them and part of me wishes I bought one size up since I usually wear a 10.5 Wide. After wearing them though and getting them nice and broken in they fit like a charm. I currently live in the middle of the desert so the extra airflow and now wearing of socks is actually really nice, I've already turned a couple of my friends onto these OTB's as well. Next purchase will probably be the MC Low's.
