In August 2015, the U.S. Army started the transition from desert tan boots to coyote brown boots. Dark, stain-hiding and more effective at providing concealment than the lighter desert tan boots, coyote brown boots were adopted in conjunction with the announcement of the new OCP ACUs. By 2018, the U.S. Air Force also adopted the OCP uniform, including the coyote brown boots. By October 2018, it will be mandatory for all soldiers to wear boots in the new color. In that same month airmen will start their transition from sage boots to the new boot color.
