ASP 16" SideBreak Scabbard

Item #: 52234

Protection. Portation. Presentation. The three criteria of any baton scabbard. Each carrier must define a compromise between security and speed of presentation. It must provide a level of protection without compromising access. The case must secure the baton without hindering rapid deployment. The SideBreak Series is the foundation of the ASP gallery of baton scabbards. A retracted or expanded Friction Loc Baton may be rapidly presented, yet is securely retained during dynamic confrontations. Expanded batons may be presented out the side of the carrier. The SideBreak rotates to 7 distinct positions or may be locked upright on the belt. The Snap-Loc belt attachment can be adjusted to fit everything from a dress belt, duty belt and MOLLE gear.

Features of ASP 16" SideBreak Scabbard

  • Rotates to 7 Distinct Positions
  • Compatible with all Friction Loc batons
  • Allows Rapid Presentation

Well made

Clasp for belt is sturdier than regular plastic. Secures baton well in holster. 16 inch baton rides high. I'm 6'0" tall and it jabs in my side. Well made, just makes the baton a little tall.

don't like this product at all

Just walking perimeters with this holster the 1st time my baton fell out two or three times. Running to a fight it fell out. Forcing me to stop and pick it up. Putting Officers lives in danger. Even with bending the metal retention band as much as I could, retention was still poor, the baton has fallen out at least a dozen times. It seems to short for a 16" baton with a cap. I like my baton horizontal so I can draw it with my opposite side hand. There is a little bit of play when it's clamped on my duty belt so the holster isn't tight on the belt and easily slides and twists causing the baton to actually point down a little, making the retention even worse. I blame this on the fact that my belt measures in at 2 1/8" even though it's considered a 2 1/4" belt but, there is no way to adjust for this. So if your belt isn't exactly 2 1/4" you can't adjust this holster to be tight on the belt. There is a screw to lock the holster vertical. I bought this holster because I can't stand my baton vertical, I wear it in front and can't even sit with a vertical holster. There is no way to lock it in any other position and it rotates way to much with natural movement, I'm constantly putting it back to horizontal or one notch up from that so I'm not worrying it will fall out. I drilled holes in it and sewed it closed on the top and bottom where the side break is so it now has great retention but it no longer has side break. (at least I'm not worrying about loosing it) For what you get I'd say it's not worth it. Overall I consider this holster pretty crappy for the money they expect for it. Very expensive plastic holder that could have easily been engineered better, by allowing locking in any position, better retention and a better way of securing to non exact size belts. I expected a lot more from ASP, especially at the price I paid for it. Don't buy it.

It's Good.

It's a stable platform for my baton that can be worn anywhere in my duty belt. I also use it to carry my baton concealed. It's a pretty good product.

Gotta love ASP

I like this scabbard a lot but the position I wear it in digs into me a little while sitting. The retention wasn't quite up to par but was easily adjusted. All in all, I'm happy with it.
